Sclerotherapy for Leg Veins
Risk factors for the development of unsightly leg veins include hormones, gender, pregnancy, hereditary and prolonged standing. Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to treat spider veins on the legs. It is performed by using a micro needle to inject a small amount of a solution into the vessels. This solution, called a sclerosant, causes the lining of the veins to become irritated and greatly reduced. The procedure usually takes about 15-30 minutes and does not require any anesthesia. After the procedure the legs are wrapped for a short period of time and the patient other than avoiding strenuous activities for several days can proceed with their normal routine.
