The primary sign of aging is sagging and wrinkled skin, and nowhere is it more obvious than on the face and neck. Sagging and loose skin can also create an undesirable look on the neck, on the chest, around the eyebrows, and under the chin. Ultherapy® is a proven treatment for all these skin concerns. It can also be used to treat facial lines in the areas around the eyes. In the past, obtaining tighter smoother skin required a surgical facelift, with results that don’t always look as natural as one would like. Ultherapy® is a safer, non-invasive alternative that can produce more youthful-looking skin without the risks of surgery or downtime that comes with it.

What Is Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® lifts and tightens loose skin using the power of ultrasound energy. This is an FDA-approved procedure that is well-tolerated and requires no downtime. This treatment is the only non-invasive treatment approved by the FDA for lifting the skin on the neck, chin, chest, and brow. It uses focused ultrasound to lift and tighten loose skin over time, with little to no downtime.

How It Works

We simply move the Ultherapy® handpiece over the areas of the face, chest, or neck where you wish to tighten the skin. The device delivers a precise amount of ultrasound waves in order to stimulate collagen production in the area, which over time results in a lifting of skin and a reduction of wrinkles.

What Makes Ultherapy® One of the Best Skin Tightening Procedures?

This is the only non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses focused ultrasound to stimulate the growth of new collagen deep within the skin. It is also the only procedure that uses ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during the treatment to ensure the energy is directed precisely where it will be most effective.

Who Is a Candidate for This Treatment?

A good candidate for Ultherapy® is someone with skin that has some degree of laxity, to the point of looking, and often feeling less firm. A lowered eyebrow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. Loose skin under the neck and under the chin are also signs that a patient might be a candidate. Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.

Does Ultherapy® Hurt?

While generally well-tolerated, some patients in the past have reported some discomfort from the procedure. However, our software upgrade “Ultherapy® Amplify,” has made the procedure considerably more comfortable. While comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, most patients now report that the procedure is quite tolerable. If and when any discomfort does occur, it happens only while the ultrasound energy is being delivered and you will not be in any discomfort after the procedure has been completed.  This sensation is a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. We also take several measures to make the experience as pleasant as possible and patients tell us they leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.

What Is the Recovery Time? Are There Any Ultherapy® Side Effects?

You can continue with your daily activities immediately after your treatment. There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment, and a small percentage of patients may have slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

Each procedure takes an hour or less, and most patients only need one treatment. Results become apparent over time, as collagen production takes hold, so you should expect to notice your most dramatic results anywhere from three to six months following treatment. You can always schedule additional treatments as needed.

What Does It Cost?

Patients can expect to pay anywhere between $750 and $4500, depending on the number of areas to be treated. While this is more expensive than treating sagging skin and wrinkles with skin creams, it is much more effective and much cheaper than surgery.
